What to Expect From a Telemedicine Doctor’s Appointment

A telemedicine (also called telehealth) visit works a lot like a regular visit to your doctor’s office, once you’ve logged into the appointment. Here’s what you can expect:

Schedule a telemedicine appointment for a new or follow-up visit.
Our schedulers will email you an appointment confirmation.
You’ll receive a secure video conferencing link with instructions, to use at your appointment time.
At your appointment time: From a smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer with a video camera, click the link and follow the login instructions.
You and your healthcare provider will discuss your health history, symptoms, concerns, and recommendations for care, including tests and prescriptions.
In some cases, your provider may request an in-person visit for a more thorough physical examination, testing or lab work.

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the use of tools such as video conferencing to provide doctor’s office appointments and other medical care remotely, while still face-to-face. It allows patients to connect with their healthcare providers in real-time, no matter where they are located. Telemedicine has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially as the world has become more connected and technology has advanced.

Questions, answered

Do you offer same day telemedicine appointments?

In most cases, yes. Same day and next day virtual visits are usually available. Book online or call 817-439-9081 and we will find the first opening.

Do I need to be an existing patient?

No. Telemedicine is available for new patients as well as follow up visits, so you can start care with us without coming in first.

Where does my prescription go?

If your provider prescribes medication, it is sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose, so you can pick it up the same day in most cases.

Can my child have a telehealth sick visit?

Pediatric sick visits are in clinic only, starting at age 6 months. Call the office to schedule.
